Square magnet "Kupka - Woman in triangles"

Based on the technical and scientific advances of his time, such as chronophotography, which decomposes the movements, or the X-rays that reveal the material, František Kupka produced around 1910 such works as "Woman in triangles", at mid -path between figuration and abstraction.

Structured by a gradient of transparent colors, the scene seems perceived by a look capable of penetrating things and thus accessing their "truth". Pursuing this prismatic decomposition of the real, Kupka ends, soon after, with canvases composed solely of vertical colored planes from which every figure disappears.
