Passport holder "Monogram of Louis XIV"

This leather passport holder bears the figure of Louis XIV. The monograms were proper to each king and queen, and served as their signature. But they could also be imposed on objects to mark a belonging, or carved on the walls of castles to witness a passage or modifications.

Louis XIV's monogram is composed of his initial, the l, doubled and intertwined to form a single character, surmounted by a crown and framed by two laurel leaves.
