Etching The Rose of the Louvre, 2020 - Jean-Michel Othoniel
The Rose du Louvre, an original creation created by Jean-Michel Othoniel to mark the 30th anniversary of the Pyramid, joined the museum's collections in 2020.
In the same year, the Louvre and the Rmn-Grand Palais entrusted the artist with the task of creating an engraved plate for the Chalcographie collection.
It is this original plate that is used in the workshop to carefully print each print marked with a stamp in the artist's name.
With this print, the artist emphasizes the importance of drawing and publishing in his work. This black rose, on a white background, or on a silver background in its limited edition, shows the strength of the calligraphic gesture that animates the works on paper of Jean-Michel Othoniel.
