Nefertiti from Berlin

This bust represents Queen Nefertiti, wife of Pharaoh Akhenaton. Her name, which means "The Beautiful has come", refers to the goddess Hathor.

The amount of information available about her is inversely proportional to the fame she enjoys today. Her beauty highlights the aesthetic Amarna revolution which accompanied the religious revolution of Amenhotep IV, who became Akhenaton and proclaimed the god Aton as the only god.

The work was discovered in 1912 at Amarna, the capital of the kingdom, during excavations under the direction of the Deutsche Orient.
