At the age of 74, Claude Monet, the patriarch of the Impressionist Movement, decided to devote himself entirely to an implausible project: the Water Lilies.

With amazing perseverance, isolated, through a war, the mourning, the physical hardships, this illustrious painter never failed the daunting task he had chosen as his final goal.
In 1918, after World War I, he offers to France and to President Georges Clemenceau, this vast mural collection , and brought it to life at the Orangerie Museum in the Tuileries. The "magic mirror of reality" is finally revealed...

This film relates and analyses, through the eyes and the hand of his creator, Claude Monet, the birth of the masterpiece of the Impressionist Movement.
