Lyre and pearl necklace

Inspired by the earrings. These earrings reproduce, in a stylised manner, the crown of the Egyptian goddess, Isis, consisting of a solar disc framed by two cow horns.

This motif forms the upper part of a pair of Roman earrings of the 3rd century A.D. The antique earrings are composed of a cabochon in the middle, surrounded by three pendants embellished with pearls or emeralds, surmounted by the Isiac crown.

This motif was very much in vogue during the 2nd and 3rd centuries, and is linked to the spread of oriental cults in the Roman Empire.
