The size of the precious stones on these earrings may seem ostentatious but it often conceals the extremely delicate work of the setting.
The faceted rock crystal is cut in the shape of a pear and set with gold. The openwork petals of the flower are covered in drops of black enamel while a ruby forms the centre.
The translucent enamels on these pendant earrings were frequently used to adorn Ottoman jewellery.
