The fabulous life of Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun, portraitist of Marie-Antoinette

Born under the reign of Louis XV into a middle class family, Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun painted the famous portraits of Marie Antoinette.

During the Revolution, she travelled into exile, returned under the Empire, and took part in both the Restoration and July Monarchy. Welcomed into all the courts of Europe, the artist signed 650 portraits and 150 drawings, commanding the highest fees of her era.

The film retraces the adventures of her nearly 90-year life.

Arnaud Xainte is writer, director, producer and actor. He has produced for the RMN film CARTIER, THE LITTLE RED BOX that accompanied the exhibition Cartier, style and history in 2013.
