Magnificent Venice - Venice, arts & Europe in the 18th century

At the dawn of the eighteenth century, the brilliant Venice vibrates with festivals, celebrations, carnivals and shows that combine pomp and joy and attract many visitors from all over Europe. It cultivates the taste of masquerade, gallant intrigues, the unusual and the mystery, but also all forms of art. The city offers a breeding ground in which flourish multiple talents to the delight of a company fond of novelties. Although weakened by an increasingly difficult political and economic situation, the Serenissima continues to dazzle the Venetians and visitors.

aking the form of an illustrated gazette, this album proposes to walk through the City of Bridges, to meet the painters, sculptors, music composers, singers and singers who have made its grandeur and helped to build the myth of Venice.

The exhibition is on display at the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais from September 26th, 2018 to January 21st, 2019.
